A British man has been raped while attending Germany’s Oktoberfest beer festival.
The 24-year-old was relieving himself by a bush near the edge of the festival site in Munich when he was attacked by two men at around 9.30pm on Saturday.
German police said the victim was approached by someone who “made it clear he wanted to have sex with him”.
However, after he refused, his head was jerked back and he was held down by one of the suspects and raped, detectives say.
Detectives believe the two assailants fled the scene after the incident.
No one has been arrested.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We aware of an incident involving a British national and we are providing consular assistance.”
The annual festival attracts millions of tourists from around the world.
The victim was raped in a quiet section of the site in Theresienwiese, on the edge of Munich, where there are large crowds and many brightly lit tents.
