Yul Edochie:

“A few yrs ago this boy Steve Ugochukwu Onyebuchi, based in Canada contacted me on Facebook and asked me out. I told him i’m not gay. I’m married. Leave me alone. Later I started getting calls from him, he said he has friends in Nollywood who always get him any number he needs. I blocked all his numbers. After a very long time he started calling me again, and sending me messages on whatsapp. He said he went on the internet and learnt how to call people with different numbers on one phone, so I cant block him anymore.

He would call me with all sorts of numbers, I couldn’t block him anymore. I said ok, what do u want? I’m not gay. Its not by force. He said he wont tell me anything gay again, that he just wants to be my friend. He’s actually a big fan of mine, he sees all my movies. He begged me not to snub him cos i’m a celebrity. I told him that I dont discriminate. I dont care if he’s gay or not, its not my bizness. He can be my friend but if he starts his gay talk again i’ll stop talking to him. He said ok.

So he would call me and ask of my family, and tell me about my latest film he watched and all. Sometimes he would top up my line, I told him to stop it. He said I shouldn’t snub him, that its just a friendly gesture. He knows I can afford it. I said ok. He came to Lagos sometime and begged me and bugged me that he would love to see me. That I should please grant him that. Even if its the only thing I wld do for him, after much bugging I said ok. I dont discriminate. Its nothing. He came to my estate,  I drove out to the estate gate and saw him. He came with 2 friends. He chatted with me for a while, he was elated. He left. Later on he started bugging me, that he would love to do something nice for my family, just to appreciate me. That he does Canada visas for people, he wants to start the process for my family. I said no. That i’m not interested. He would call me over 200 times in one day. Trying to convince me. He swore with his life and the lives of his parents that he was genuine. I came home one day and I told my wife about it, she said ok. That she would like to give it a try. That she always wanted to do Canada visas for my children

She travels a lot, I don’t. cos I have flight phobia. So I said ok, I trusted this guy cos I trust people a lot, he swore with his life and the lives of his parents that what he wanted to do was genuine. And I was always on the road cos of my work. So I gave him my wife’s number and my P.a’s number. So they started the whole documents process. He brought in someone he called Mr Gbenga, and they were all arranging all that. At some point my wife went to Ikeja to write the aptitude test. A few weeks after that, this guy calls me and says that he knows i’m not gay, but I should just do one thing for him and he’ll be happy. I should send him a picture of my private part. That was how this whole rubbish started. I was mad, I refused. I told him that if its because of whatever he thinks he’s doing for me he should stop it immediately, by God’s grace I can afford to do anything for my family. But he never stopped. He continued pestering me, calling me a million times in a day. I told my wife about it, my answered his calls and shouted on him. He never stopped, he told my wife that he’s in love with me and he cant stop. He then starts to bug my wife with calls, telling her to talk to her husband to behave well.

That was when I realized I was dealing with a psyco. Shouting on him wasnt working, I tried to talk to him. Letting him know that i’m not gay, and its not by force. But he wouldn’t listen. He kept bugging me and my family with calls and messages, insulting me and my wife. Saying he’s obsessed with me and he would never stop. I noticed that when i’m talking to him he’s calmer, and he stops disturbing my wife, but when I ignore him the calls and messages get worse. So my wife suggested I play along, so she could have peace. Cos she didnt want to change her number cos of her bizness contacts. So I would take his calls, which would always make him happy and calm. I said ok dont worry i’ll show you. I kept posting him. He said he wants to get me an ipad, white or black? I said ok white. Not as if I need his ipad. My children have ipads which I bought for them. I’m very comfortable I can buy an ipad for myself. I just played along to buy time while I figure out how to deal with this psycho.

So when he noticed I was posting him and I wasnt responding with the request he’s making. He intensifies his insults on my family. I had to change my wife’s number. So I was receiving all his insults and disturbance. I ignored him, sometimes I would answer him and try to reason with him cos I couldn’t understand that he was doing all he was doing just bcos of a man refused to show him his private part. When he’s in a country where he can easily find a partner and stop disturbing me. He kept sending me messages begging me to love him back, that he’s madly in love with me. I should do this for him and he’ll forever appreciate it. Of course I refused. He then vows to me dat since I was proving stubborn that he would destroy me, and destroy my name. That many artistes are bisexual and there’s nothing there. Why am I proving stubborn? That he would spoil my name. He then goes on and starts to insult me on twitter. Started attacking my fans on twitter. He vowed to me that he wouldd destroy me. He starts telling my fans that him and I are bisexual lovers and thats why he has my family documents. He starts to post my family documents on the net, threatening me to give into his demands or he will never stop. He would cut pictures of my fans and my wife, mix it with pictures of naked women and post on the net and say all sorts of nonsense. Just  terrible. I told this boy listen i’m not gay. If its about all ur small gifts which I never asked for pls calculate how much so I can send u all the money. It won’t even be up to fifty thousand naira, let me give you. Just leave me alone. He wouldnt stop. He kept on doing what he was doing. I couldn’t take it anymore, that was when I posted his pictures on the internet

A few weeks ago his mother called me from Canada, and apologised on his behalf. And begged me to drop the charges against him and take out his pictures from my Twitter, and Instagram accounts. That their son would never disturb me again. She talked to me like a mother, acknowledging that his son has mental issues. I said ok, I told her that even though he has done so much, insulted me and lied against me, i’m willing to forgive him cos I know he doesnt know what he’s doing. No man in his right senses will be fighting a man who refused to show him his private part. I removed all his pictures and told his mother to send me an apology letter. But this psycho joblesss boy hasnt stopped. He’s so obsessed with me, he keeps calling me, sending me messages on twitter just to get my attention. Saying he’s ready to die for the matter. I’m just tired

I also learnt that he has done similar stuff to a few other actors (names withheld) , You can call them to confirm but pls dont publish their names except they want you to.

Same guy, Steven Ugochukwu Onyebuchi. Just disturbing all of us. He hides behind different fake accounts. He also sent my number to gay sites, so that gays will be calling me and disturbing me. He uses the name Nelly.”
