Health Zone: Having too much s*x can make you unhappy – Scientists

sex

Most of us imagine that there is not even such a thing as ‘too much sex’.

But now scientists have suggested that if you spend your entire life on frantic love-making, it might actually make you unhappy.

Researchers from Carnegie Mellon University instructed 32 married couples to double the amount of sex they were having, while a control group of 32 other couples kept having sex at their normal frequencies.

When questioned afterwards, the couples who had sex more weren’t happier – saying that the increase in frequency led to them feeling less desire for each other.

The couples also enjoyed having sex less when they were ‘doing it’ more.

‘The desire to have sex decreases much more quickly than the enjoyment of sex once it’s been initiated,’ said Tamar Krishnamurti of Carnegie Mellon University.

‘Instead of focusing on increasing sexual frequency to the levels they experienced at the beginning of a relationship, couples may want to work on creating an environment that sparks their desire and makes the sex that they do have even more fun.’
