The world No.1 was on her way to making history on Friday during the US Open semi-finals, but her grand slam hopes were dashed by the Italian.

At the press conference, Williams said: “I don’t want to talk about how disappointing it is for me.”

And following her defeat, Twitter soon erupted and blamed the Canadian rapper for her shock loss.

“I told y’all if Serena lost I was gonna #BlameDrake. I now hate Drake until Serena Williams again. I need a ghost writer for my diss track!” one joked.

“Romance and achievement don’t always go together, regardless of gender of Canadian-ness #BlameDrake,” another shared.
