Military combs Arepo, Ikorodu for pipeline vandals

Members of a special joint security task force, consisting of the Army, Navy, Air Force and others from paramilitary agencies are presently combing the murky areas of Ikorodu and Arepo in Lagos and Ogun States respectively in search of pipeline vandals, especially those that allegedly abducted eight operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) last month.

The special joint task force put in place by the federal government was also mandated to ensure that the security situation in the Arepo-Ikorodu axis is brought to normal, so that officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) can resume the supply of products to Mosemi in Ogun State.

Daily Trust learnt that the NNPC had shut down the supply of petroleum products from Atlas Cove to Mosemi and Ejigbo depots, owing to the criminal activities of the pipeline vandals at Arepo and Ikorodu.

The shutdown had created artificial scarcity of petroleum products in some parts of the country.
