On Monday night, the 40-year-old, who shot to fame as Rose DeWhitt Bukater in the 1997’s classic, finally spoke out against the scene that left many fans heartbroken…that Jack’s death was unnecessary – when she said: “I think he could have actually fitted on that bit of door” on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Yep, the couple’s final scene , where Rose cruelly leaves Jack to freeze to death in the water, instead of letting him squeeze onto the raft with her.

The conversation began when host Jimmy commented on Kate’s reunion with her on-screen lover Leonardo DiCaprio at this year’s Screen Actors Guild Award.

“People were very excited that you were sitting next to, or near, Leonardo DiCaprio at the show, even though you let him freeze to death in the water, the way I see it,” joked Jimmy.

“I agree, I think he could have actually fitted on that bit of door,” admitted Kate, as the outraged host shouted: “There was plenty of room on the raft!”
Despite Kate’s cruel actions back in 1997, the pair looked as close as ever during the glitzy SAG bash.
As Leo scooped Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in The Revenant, no one looked more chuffed than his old pal Kate, who rushed over to give him a big hug.
