‘I became a mum & gran within 3 hours’ Mother and daughter’s double birth joy (Photos)


A mum and daughter have both given birth to baby girls – just three hours apart.

Sophie Jenkins, 19, and her mother Kay Henry, 34, from Pentwyn did not only experience their nine month pregnancies together, but both gave birth to baby girls on the same day.

Sophie and her partner Adam welcomed Arya Kay Patricia at 8.56pm on Thursday, followed shortly by Kay and her husband Darren’s baby girl Tiana Rose who was born at 12.11am on Friday.

The girls were born just three hours apart at at the University Hospital of Wales, Heath Hospital, WalesOnline reported.

Sophie said: “It been strange and special at the same time.

“This is mum’s fourth child, so it was really good to have her giving me advice along the way.”

Kay’s aunt Tracey Campbell, 51, said that they already have a big family and want it to continue growing.

“We’re all over the moon, we have a big family already so it’s lovely to add to it,” she said.

“I think there will be another birth this year, so the family is just getting bigger and bigger.”

The new babies have created a fifth living generation for the family and Tracey’s father David, who is 84, has a staggering 28 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
