Tupac’s Mother Afeni Shakur Passes Away At 69

Afeni Shakur Davis, mother of late rap legend Tupac Shakur has died. She was 69 years old.

Marin County deputies responded to Shakur’s home in Sausalito, Calif., Monday night after she suffered a possible cardiac arrest, the sheriff’s office said Tuesday morning. She was taken to a local hospital and died just before 10:30 p.m.

The exact reason for her death is currently unknown, but the Marin County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office will be leading an investigation.

Tupac famously dedicated a song to his mom, “Dear Mama,” in which she will remain immortalized. Shakur managed the late rapper’s estate since his death in 1996, which reportedly earns $900,000 a year.
