It was a day to remember at No 126 Park Lane, Enugu, the APC party secretariat, as the Actor turned Politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, dazzled APC members with his declaration to be the next Governor of Enugu State.
Information reaching us revealed that it was the people of Enugu North Senatorial Zone that presented Kenneth Okonkwo as their consensus candidate to ensure that they forge a common front in their quest to complete their tenure in the 8-year governorship rotational formula between the three senatorial zones in Enugu State.
There is growing irritation among Nsukka people against the incumbent Governor, whom they voted for in the expectation of legacy projects in their area, only to end up four years later with the refurbishment of a few kilometers of roads as their only reward.
The Actor assured the teeming party supporters that He will do only a term in deference to the time honoured agreement between the zones.
The declaration attracted the party Big Wigs like Gov. Sullivan Chime, the DG VON, Osita Okechukwu, Speaker of the Enugu House of Assembly, Eugene Odo, Bar Okey Ezea, Bar Ben Nwoye, APC Chairman Enugu State and his state exco, all the ward chairmen in the state and their ex is, youth leaders, women leaders, Local Council Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates in the last local government elections.

Having seen Dr Kenneth Okonkwo wearing an APC scarf, I have no choice but to withdraw my support for him. My major concern is Dr Kenneth’s choice of APC as a party under which he would run. APC’s record is leprose and no one would like to touch it with a long pole. I had wished him good luck in my earlier submission because I used to be a supporter of his acting days. With his new choice of a political party APC, that has brought shame to Nigerians, I now question his character. We have now reached a point of separation.
