We don’t have stars anymore, except your president, Trump mocks Oscars outing

In a tweet that appears to mock the 90th Oscars which held on Sunday, President Donald Trump has said it was the lowest-rated Oscars in history.

The reason, he says, is because there are no stars anymore; putting himself up as the superstar of all times.

He quickly adds, though, that he was merely joking about his own super stardom.

Considering the war of words that Trump had with some actors in the run-up to the 2017 Oscars, it is difficult to accept Trump’s claim that his recent observation is a joke.

It may be recalled that at the 2017 Oscars, actors had taken turns to deride President Trump in an attempt to get back at him for calling American actress Meryl Streep an “overrated actress.”

At last year’s Oscars, host Jimmy Kimmel called out President Trump on several occasions, and even tweeted at him as if to draw him into a tweet war.

Kimmel also urged the Hollywood community gathered at the historic occasion to give Streep a standing ovation — a call many saw as a direct answer to Trump’s insult on Streep.

Kimmel also hosted the 2018 Oscars, which media reports had described as an all-time low, ratings-wise.

President Trump had capitalised on this, tweeting, “Lowest rated Oscars in HISTORY. Problem is, we don’t have Stars anymore – except your President (just kidding, of course)!”
