The Presidency has provided more details on the technical stopover President Muhammadu Buhari had in London after his trip to the US.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in a text message to Daily Trust correspondent yesterday afternoon, explained that Buhari’s technical crew decided to break the long US trip to refuel and do routine checks in London.
According to Shehu, the president and his team are flying back to Abuja “now”.
“It is a smaller plane. The BBJ is away on repairs. The technical crew decided to break the long distance journey, to refuel and do routine checks. This is normal. They are flying back to Abuja now,” he said.
Nevertheless, President Buhari has finally touched down in Abuja, two days after he left the United States following an official visit to President Donald Trump.
The president landed at 10:17 p.m. at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport from London.
