Why it’s taking so long to reposition Nigeria, by Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Saturday night, explained it had taken so long to reposition Nigeria because of alleged 16 years’waste of the former Peoples Democratic Party-led administration.

This was contained in a statement by Suleiman Haruna, director of Information to wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari.

The President spoke at a dinner organised by the Youth and Women Campaign Organisation at the Presidential Villa’s Old Banquet Hall in Abuja.

Buhari, who vowed not to betray the confidence of Nigerians, said his victory was a sign that Nigerians were satisfied with his government’s change.

He added that his victory  was an expression of confidence in his promise of its consolidation as idealised by the Next Level campaign.

He decried the abuse Nigeria went through during past governments, and explained why it took so long to reposition the country.

The President promised to use the next four years to conclude what he had started.

He recognised the significant role women and youth played in the campaign and election, promising to engage them more in his second tenure.

Aisha Buhari had assured women and youths that her husband’s second tenure would not forget them, while addressing the gap between the rich and poor.

She hailed the confidence reposed in the President, assuring them that he would  continue to serve the people.

“I wish I can invite 15 million Nigerians that voted for Mr. President to this dinner, but no place can accommodate all. So, let me say thank you and assure you that you made the right choice.”
