No casualty in Owerri Airport fire – FAAN

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) yesterday insisted there was no casualty in the fire incident which happened at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri on Monday.

The incident touched parts of the arrival and departure sections of the aircraft, but it was swiftly put out by the Aerodrome and Fire-Fighting Department of FAAN.

Though the fire was said to have been triggered by an electric spark, the authority said it had launched a probe into the inferno.

However, it dismissed a trending online video indicating that people got injured in the incident.

General Manager, Public Affairs of FAAN, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, described the video as “false and malicious”.
