Singer Jeremih is in ICU, in a ‘critical condition’ days after being hospitalised with coronavirus, his agent has confirmed.
On Saturday it was reported the 33-year-old was on a breathing ventilator in ICU after contracting Covid-19.
Giving an update on his situation yesterday, the musician’s agent told Variety: “J was just pulled off the ventilator. He’s still in ICU in critical condition. Please keep him in your prayers.”
Jeremih, whose real name is Jeremy Phillip Felton, is best known for hit songs Birthday Sex, Down on Me and Don’t Tell ‘Em.
The singer’s family issued a statement on his health battle yesterday, describing how the virus had ‘viciously attacked his body’ which they noted was ‘rare for a young man his age with no underlying conditions”.
“The family believes daily prayers to God,” they shared. “A great team of doctors and nurses is helping him pull through. He’s not out of the woods yet, but progress is being made. The family and friends are praying that he starts breathing on his own soon, and makes a full recovery.
“His family would like to remind the world that COVID-19 is real and not to be taken lightly.
“Also, it’s important for people infected to quarantine and let their families and friends know ASAP. There’s no shame in contracting COVID-19, and people that have it need to be responsible and considerate of others.”
As news of Jeremih’s hospitalisation emerged, celebrity friends of the star urged fans to pray for his recovery.
