FEC Approves New Salary Structure For Nigeria Police

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved “peculiar allowance” for the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force to take effect from January 2022.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, announced this Wednesday while briefing State House reporters after the federal cabinet meeting held at the newly upgraded Council Chambers of the Presidential, Villa Abuja.

He said the allowance will increase police personnel take-home pay by 20 percent of their present earning.

Dingyadi said the meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari also approved the review of police duty tour allowance to 6 percent, the release of N1.12 billion for the payment of uninsured benefits, the sum of N1.2 billion for the payment of outstanding allowances, N13bn approved for release for payment of death benefits, annual insurance premium of N750m, and tax waiver for junior personnel to take effect from October 2021.

He said the action was in line with the President’s promise to enhance police personnel pay as demanded by #EndSARS protesters.
