Alex Ekubo Had Big Plans For My 80th Birthday – Pete Edochie

Veteran actor Pete Edochie has paid tribute to the late Alex Ekubo, describing him as cheerful, energetic, and a strong influence on Nigeria’s film industry.

In an Instagram video message, Edochie said he had met Ekubo only three times, but each encounter stood out for the actor’s warm, lively personality.

He recalled one visit when Ekubo arrived at his hotel with a cow and a group of Ogene drummers to invite him to an event.

The veteran actor also commended actor IK Ogbonna for standing by Ekubo as a loyal friend in life and after his passing.

He said, “Alexx Ekubo came, he saw, and he left an indelible impression. I met him three times. On the first occasion, he arrived at my hotel with a big cow and a group of Ogene drummers to invite me to an event.

“I was told he had big plans for my 80th birthday celebration next year, but unfortunately, he is gone. IK Ogbonna proved himself a true friend, both in life and in death”.

Ekubo’s death has continued to draw tributes from colleagues in Nollywood who remember him for his vibrancy and generosity.
