R. Kelly Seeks 31-year Prison Sentence Commutation From Trump

R&B singer R. Kelly has formally asked US President Donald Trump to commute his 31-year prison sentence for racketeering, s3x trafficking and child s3xual abuse-related offences.

According to The Guardian, court records made public this week by the Office of the Pardon Attorney showed that 59-year-old Kelly, whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, filed a request for executive clemency with the US Department of Justice.

According to the records, the application is pending and seeks a commutation of his sentence, not a full presidential pardon.

Kelly was convicted in 2021 of racketeering for leading what prosecutors described as a criminal enterprise that recruited women and underage girls for illegal s3xual activity and the production of pornography.

He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Kelly’s lawyer Beau Brindley has been asking Trump for clemency for over a year.
