Businesswoman and sister of singer Davido, Sharon Adeleke, has urged public figures to normalise re-wearing outfits.
Speaking in a recent Instagram video, Sharon said
celebrities should not succumb to societal pressure to wear new
clothes for every event.
The businesswoman shared a personal experience in which her team objected to her wearing an
outfit she had worn before.
“On Sunday, I have an event and I did not have anything made for it. So, I decided to wear something that I have worn before, and my team objected that people have seen it before and they will see it again. But I wore it anyway,” she said.
She added that she will not allow unnecessary pressure to dictate her fashion choices.
“Don’t let anybody tell you you can’t repeat your clothes. I will re-rock as many times as I like. I am not going to let anybody put unnecessary pressure on me.
“Don’t be afraid to repeat your clothes. Re-rock as many times as you like,” she added.
Sharon’s comments come amid growing conversations about sustainability and the cost of maintaining celebrity fashion standards in Nigeria.
