Chigozie Zeal Atuanya is one of the most promising faces in Nollywood. He is a multi talented actor who has featured in many Nigerian movies. The ‘Blackberry Babes’ actor is also a model, musician, script writer and producer. He’s also the newest married man in Nollywoord. Some years back, the former Delta Soap model released his debut musical album entitled ‘Oruola’ which he recorded in collaboration with his junior brother Onyeze Atuanya.
In March 2013, Chigozie tied the knot in Anambra State with his sweet heart Jennifer Oranike.
Diamond Celebrities gathered that the handsome actor paid 40 Naira for the bride price for his wife. Diamond Celebrities thusly went on a mission to find out the true story.
This is the exclusive interview with Delia Innoma. Enjoy.
DC: We learnt that you paid 40 Naira for the bride price.
Chigozie Atuanya: Where did you get that one from?
But don’t mind them. It’s just the dowry you pay, it’s just the tradition; you give the father money like 100k Naira, he will just collect any amount like 50 Naira or 1000 Naira telling you that his daughter is not for sale but all the drinks and some other things you will bring for the dowry will amount to 500k. That will tell you that she is not for sale.
DC (cuts in): Hahahahaha, I know how it is, but that’s so cheap. You’re a lucky guy.
DC: How did you guys meet?
Chigozie Atuanya: We met 2 years ago at her sister’s marriage party.
DC: For real, was it love at first sight?
Chigozie Atuanya: We started out as friends and never knew it would get to this point. From friends to dating and now we’re married.
DC: What’s the secret that makes it work?
Chigozie Atuanya: She understands me so much that even when I say a word she knows where I’m heading to, and her simple nature is so fantastic. The way she relates to people and how she handles issues is so amazing.
DC: How important is saying “I am sorry” in a relationship to you?
Chigozie Atuanya: It heals every wound, reveals genuine humbleness and re-affirms one’s commitment to your partner.
DC: Are you a jealous lover?
Chigozie Atuanya: Oh yes! I’m jealous, because jealousness brings about value, when you hold something to high esteem you’ll definitely not wish for an intruder because you hold it to high esteem. Even the God that created us holds us to high esteem and so he wants us to hold him to high esteem, as he declared ‘we must not worship another God’ because he’s a jealous God – so I am jealous.
DC: Now that you are married do we get to see you in Nollywood movies like before?
Chigozie Atuanya: Of course. My marriage has got nothing to do with my movie career.
DC: What word do you have for people who are still searching?
Chigozie Atuanya: Well, I must say to those that are still searching to be humble and honest to whoever comes your way so as not to miss the right partner, because you must first remove the beam in your own eye before you can tell your neighbour to remove his. One cannot keep complaining of the opposite sex not been honest and genuine when you are busy playing games. If you don’t have much to offer invariably you shouldn’t expect to receive much. That’s all I can say.
DC: Wow. This shows how much you love God and your wife. Thank so much for talking with us, and congratulations once again.
Chigozie Atuanya: Thank you.
Congrats Man!
