Enugu Magistrate Dies in Prison Custody

Barely 48 hours after she was remanded in custody for alleged  offences  on “conspiracy, false information and attempted murder”, a Magistrate in Enugu State Judiciary, Mrs. Ifeoma Nneji died inside her cell in Enugu Prisons in the early hours of Wednesday.

Though reasons for her sudden death were yet to be ascertained as at Wednesday afternoon, sources said it may not be unconnected with complications arising from shock of her remand.

The now deceased Magistrate was remanded in Enugu prison along with her husband on Monday after their arraignment.

Nneji reportedly served at Oji River Magisterial District before she was recently suspended by the State Judicial Service Commission on account of her involvement in the alleged abduction of a 9-year-old-girl.
