The proliferation of sex charm videos by Nigerian women By Okechukwu Nwafor

Recently the Nigerian internet space was flooded with videos of Nigerian women advertising different types of sex charms. These charms range from creams and concoctions which the hustlers purport can seduce and bewitch anyone who enters into their sexual paradise.

According to the merchants, the sex device works like an entrapment, just like walking into a trap baited with alluring, irresistible, pleasurable, blissful sexual decoys.

While many Nigerians are alarmed at this new internet idiosyncrasy, it is important to approach this issue with some measures of honesty and gospel truth that they deserve.

Nigerians should not be alarmed at this new craze for many reasons. First, these women are like Babalawos or what South Africans call Sangomas. Are we pretending that we are not aware of the existence of Babalawos? Or are we pretending that we are unaware of the existence of ‘love portions?’

Even as a young student in those days, I heard stories of how women traveled long distances to get ‘love portions’ to trap men. Likewise, as a secondary school child, I followed rumors among my high school mates of how bad boys went to some Babalawos to get what was then known as ‘touch and follow’ to enable them to touch girls in the neighboring secondary schools so that the rest would be history.

The business of buying and selling ‘love portions’ has been in existence even before most of us were born. The difference is that in the past the business was being vended, advertised and sold by some old terribly-looking, unkempt men and women. Again, in the past, the business was done more clandestinely and off-camera.

Today, we are alarmed because the business is being championed by some beautiful, attractive, elegant young ladies. Eyebrows are raised today because the business has become open. It has crawled into the internet. The hidden, hush-spoken deals are being unmasked. The business has been demystified. What we heard as rumors in the past is being witnessed today by our children as gospel truth.

I think the migration of this business into the internet is occasioned by the expediency of the times. It seems their customers are no longer available off-line and since businesses are migrating online in response to the unanticipated pressures imposed by the pandemic, they needed to migrate. Imagine how they lost numerous customers during the period of intense lockdown. They needed to recoup and recover from the biting aftermath of the lockdown. This is called the post-pandemic effect.

Whether you want to accept the hard fact or not, businesses are migrating online. I have also migrated my own business online and I will soon unveil my product.
