Why I’ll Never Get Married – Tyler Perry

American filmmaker and actor Tyler Perry has said he has no plans to  marry, citing the financial consequences he has seen people face after divorce. 

Perry made this clear while appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show to promote his latest film, ‘Why Did I Get Married Again?’, the third instalment in his popular marriage-themed franchise.

According to Perry, several people he knows who were financially successful lost their wealth after divorce.

He said, “I’m never going to get  married. It’s not about marriage; it’s about the divorce pandemic. Everybody I know who did well and went broke did it because of a divorce. So I’m good just being free.”

Perry was previously in a long-term relationship with Ethiopian model and filmmaker Gelila Bekele, with whom he shares a son, Aman.

The pair ended their relationship in 2020 but continue to co-parent their child.
